Artists :: Huelyn Duvall

Huelyn Duvall
Rockabilly cowboy Huelyn Duvall is a genuine Texas original. Born in tiny Garner, Texas, in 1939, Duvall got his first guitar at age 14 and hasn’t stopped bopping on it since. In fact, it was supposedly Duvall who brought rock n’roll for the first time to major country music gigs like Fort Worth’s Cowtown Hoedown and Dallas’ Big D Jamboree with his late-‘50s band the Troublesome Three. After his marriage in 1961, Duvall stopped playing music until the mid-80’s, when a resurgence of interest in original rockabilly found promoters knocking on his door to play, among other things, festivals in England and Holland. A strange side note to Duvall’s career: it is his voice yelling “Tequila!” at the end of the hit 1958 instrumental by the Champs.
