Artists :: Matt Lucas

Matt Lucas
“The THIS JUST IN FROM MATT:

"Mau Mau Boogie”, a new song I wrote in tribute to Dr. Ike, the Mystic One himself, and all the Knights of The Mystic Mau Mau, after playing their Pondarosa Stomp. It took a couple of cuts but in the end we nailed it.
"Dr. Ike, Dr. Ike what can you do?
He said Matt don’t worry let it come over you
I was a nervous wreck, I was going wild
Under the spell of the Mystic Mau Mau"

Matt Lucas Matt Lucas came screamin’ out of PoplarBluff, Missouri with a flat-out INSANE version of Hank Snow’s “I’m Movin’ On” that squarely pointed to the musical insanity of his birth place, Memphis, Tennessee. Similarly stripped-down, souped-up and outta hand versions of Bobby Bland’s “Turn On Your Lovelight,” Roy Orbison’s “Ooby-Dooby” and Jerry Lee’s “Put Me Down” followed in quick succession, as did wild takes on cult classics like “Wine, Wine, Wine” and “Ubangi Stomp.”

In later years, Lucas cut the crazed “Massage Parlor Blues” and its inevitable follow up, “Herpes Blues.” (!!)
