The third annual Ponderosa Stomp Roots Romp is scheduled for April 27-28 at New Orleans' Rock‘n'Bowl Mid-City Lanes. The festival celebrates the unsung heroes of rock‘n'roll - those myriad musicians who wrote and recorded hit records in the salad days of rock music but have long since been forgotten by the mainstream.
The copious lineup includes Toussaint McCall, Billy Boy Arnold, Homesick James, Ray Sharpe, Bobby Charles, Phil Phillips, Barbara Lynn, Long John Hunter, Lazy Lester and many, many more.
The show is put on by the Mystic Knights of the Mau-Mau, a group of Louisiana rock'n'roll fanatics who live for just this type of production. The roots aficionados are obsessed with celebrating the overlooked pioneers of country, swamp pop, blues, jazz, soul and New Orleans R&B, and have presented more than 30 shows over the last three years.
