Presented by the Ponderosa Stomp Foundation & Friends of the Cabildo in conjunction with the Louisiana State Museum

Join us for this exciting new series focusing on the rich musical heritage of the state of Louisiana! During each of the 2 events in the series, we will focus on a different geographical area in the state, allowing a look at the entire state of Louisiana. Each program will include a 75-minute live performance, an interview with the performer and a question & answer session with the audience!

Michael Hurtt Bio:

A guitarist, singer and music journalist, longtime New Orleanian (currently transplanted to Detroit), Michael Hurtt is leader of Michael Hurtt and the Haunted Hearts and a founding member of the cult favorite garage band the Royal Pendletons. He was the author of a long-running column in OffBeat magazine and is a frequent contributor to MOJO. His music writing has also appeared in Spin and the Metro Times, as well as numerous CD liner notes.

Jeffrey Hannusch Bio:

Jeffrey Hannusch has documented and written about New Orleans rhythm and blues for more than three decades. He has compiled, produced and written liner notes for upwards of 175 albums. His first book 'I Hear You Knockin''  (Swallow) won the American Book Award in 1986 given by the Before Columbus Foundation and in 2008, was recognized by the Blues Foundation as a Classic of Blues Literature. Hannusch wrote 'The Soul of New Orleans' (Swallow) which was published in 2001. He has written for several local publications including Offbeat, Gambit, the Times Picayune and Gambit among others. He's also written for national publications that include Rolling Stone, Billboard, Elle Gambit, Living Blues and Baseball America. He's also played bass in several New Orleans blues band and served as a rep for numerous CD/record distributors. He shares a split-level in the city's historic Gentilly Terrace neighborhood with a spoiled toy fox terrier named Boomerang.
