DJ Soul Sister and Brice Nice present the premier 45 showcase in New Orleans for the fourth year running!
10 DJs, one half hour each of heavy-duty 45 madness! Hip Drop will be held on Thursday night from 10:00 pm - 3:00 am on September 23rd to tie into the new Stomp weekend and is the dedicated event that night, Ponderosa Stomp Eve! We are also in an exciting new location, DBA on Frenchman Street. DBA is known for their love of New Orleans and roots music of all kinds, a great beer selection, and a hip but down to earth clientele. This will be the place to be Thursday night!

Folks who love raw rock n roll, soul, funk, country, swamp pop, blues, jazz and more come from all over the world for the Ponderosa Stomp and the line-up of artists performing on Friday and Saturday night is nothing short of legendary. In addition to Hip Drop, the weekend includes two huge nights at HOB, two days of music conference, film series and the return of last year’s hugely successful Ponderosa Stomp Record Show on both Friday and Saturday, now in partnership with Shakey’s Record Fair out of NYC.

The schedule is tight and the line-up is limited to just 10 DJs showcasing a heavyweight selection of funk, soul, and garage slabs. All records played at Hip Drop are original and designed for dancing, not just obscurity!

Our host needs little introduction, but just in case, DJ Soul Sister is New Orleans own queen of funk and rare groove. She hosts the Soul Power show on WWOZ and the hugely popular Hustle! Party every Saturday night. She’s DJ’d on just about every stage in New Orleans, from Essence to Voodoo to Jazz Fest and turns folks on to her Right On parties throughout the year. The Hip Drop was her idea!
