Jimmy Dotson

Guitarist Jimmy Dotson's intimate involvement in the rise of swamp blues along the border of Texas and Louisiana is encyclopedic. Originally a drummer for Silas Hogan, he played with friends like Lightnin' Slim and Slim Harpo between gigs – including the original demo of King Bee, recorded at his grandmother's house. After learning guitar, he moved forward on the bandstand, and started recording for Jay Miller's labels, often with the slicing harmonica of Lazy Lester, a classmate.
