The Relatives are a Dallas-based gospel group formed in 1970 whose singular style was so funky and experimental it's a miracle that they didn't break nationally. Fuzz guitar, funky jungle grooves and politically aware lyrics and a James Brown-like howl make this holy band a must-see. Thankfully their sides have, thankfully, been re-issued, bringing them some of the renown they've always deserved.
