Bobby Crown
Hailing from Fort Worth, Texas, Bobby Crown, along with his band the Kapers, cut his teeth everywhere from rough-and-tumble honky-tonks to the gigantic stage of the Big D Jamboree. Along the way, he managed to cut one of the most brilliant two-sided rockabilly classics of the ages, "One Way Ticket" b/w "Your Conscience." The A-side was miraculously penned by Crown at the age of 14, though its world-weary lyrics and resigned delivery suggest a man at least twice his age. The Kapers give an incredible performance as well, from the finger-picked lead guitar to the rocking piano to the thumping bass fiddle, courtesy of Bobby's dad! The haunting "Your Conscience" boasted the honor of being written by former band member Bob Lumpkins in the Louisiana State Pen.
