The Fabulous Wailers
Listen to The Fabulous Wailers on Tall Cool One
Hitting hard in 1959 with "Tall Cool One," one of the most ingeniously knuckle-headed instrumentals in rock 'n' roll history, Tacoma Park, Washington's Fabulous Wailers were the foundations upon which the Northwest sound was built. Managing to draw a musical map between the hardcore R&B sounds of Freddy King, Etta James and Ike and Tina Turner and the howling garage punk that they'd pioneer just a few short years later, their hard-edged attack influenced everyone from the Sonics clear through Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana.
